Wentz. Why? Why not?

The Bears do not need Carson Wentz. In my mind he is another Jay Cutler. Give him credit for getting a far as he has coming from an albeit dominant FCS school. He hasn't been able to stay heathy while showing flashes of being a star but Nick Foles is remembered for beating Tom Brady in the 2018 Super Bowl. The Same Foles that beat the Chicago Bears in the playoffs the following year. The "Double Doink" year. But if Wentz came here it would be beyond awkward for the reasons mentioned. I don't know much to figure how his style would fit with the Bears but they need a quarterback and certainly drafting one because we don't want Foles to back up Wentz if/when he gets injured.

There was also talk that we would have to give up Tarik Cohen. Considering he has been relegated to returning kicks I wouldn't be sad to see him go. However when Matt Nagy gave up play calling duties and the team was able to make a run at the end of the regular season before the Green Bay Packers game, I would have loved to see how Cohen would have performed during that time. None of the mock drafts I've seen show the Bears drafting a quarterback in the first round. That's nuts to me. The Bears almost now need to get Wentz since they draft 20th and I don't think too many quality quarterbacks will be available at that time that can come in right away and make a difference. Without Wentz the Bears will have to trade up to get a good one who will which no one in Chicago trusts Ryan Pace to do. We will be starting over with the Trubisky saga. A bad starting quarterback to let the rookie learn. Let's not do that again.

Everyone admits the draft class that included Deshaun Watson coming off a National Title and Patrick Mahomes who has played in back to back Super Bowls. Chicagoans will give the excuse that Mahomes would only have succeeded in Andy Reid's system.  To be fair to Matt Nagy he came in without having to choose his quarterback and while Nagy is pretty good at game planning he is terrible at play calling on game day. So let's give him a chance to choose his passer and I guarantee the Bears will do better than 8-8.

They've made the playoffs practically every year Nagy has been here. And I truly hope that it wasn't his idea to bring Foles here in a trade. Not free agency but in a trade. There should be a pole in the news papers as to whether or not the Bears should trade for a player because it has blown up in their face each time. Nagy should be given a chance to put together his own roster but that won't last long. As I said he's not a great game day play caller.
