Chicago At A Glance

In 2013 the Bears debuted a prolific offense and a worst in franchise history defense. This year We still have many of the weapons we had last year with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery on offense and what many would consider a revamped defense with the biggest plash being the addition of former Viking Jared Allen who only seems to be able to get sacks when he plays against the Bears.Allen hasn't had a sack thus far through five games.

With the offense we got to see through Josh Mccown that anyone with an arm can run this offense and win. With Cutler we see the antithesis of that notion. While the defense as revamped as it is has played better all the off season efforts will bear out that it was to build a team who would be lucky if they make it to 8-8. Prime example: The Bears should've not only beaten a poor Carolina team but the Packers as well. They truly got lucky in wins versus the 49ers and the Jets both prime time road games. And there's no reason why they should have lost to Buffalo whether or not The Bills are a better team this year.
In the Carolina game the Bears at one point had a 14 point lead trimmed to 7 by halftime. The score 21-14. The Bears were then outscored 17-3 in the second half and did more to help the Panthers defense than their own.

Back up QB Jimmy Claussen is waiting in the wings. He probably will never see the field this year if Jay stays healthy. But it's also possible this is Mel Tuckers last year in Chicago and Chicago fans will have tuned out and turned to basketball to see a revamped Bulls team and whether or not they are as good as advertised. If they are it makes the Central division one of the toughest in the league with Chicago, Indiana and Cleveland possibly being the top three teams in the east beating up on each other without having to worry about beating the Heat. If that doesn't pan out it's back to baseball season which touches on my gag reflex a bit with the destruction of Wrigley Field and another 90 loss season. I predict either during 2015 when the rookies aren't doing as well as expected there will be reunion with Theo Epstein and Terry Francona.
