Cub fans jump ship right now. we are getting snookered by the front office. I've followed Craig Counsels managing career with the Brewers from the beginning. You wonder how it was a team like the Brewers with a number of stars over that time they were able to reach the NLCS one time. In a semi competitive division with the Cubs and Cardinals nipping at their heel year after year you knew the brewers were going to come up short. Fast forward to 2025 and the Cubs are looking like juggernauts and now they are doing what I've seen happen under Counsel with the Brewers: the slow degrade where you play down to the teams on your schedule you should be getting fat on instead you slowly falling to them. The last team I can remember defeating over .500 in a series was the Yankees. Well we did handle the Dodgers to begin the season when it looked like we were something special. at one time the highest scoring team in baseball. And everyone is shouting PCA! Trying to figure out how to re-sign King Tuck who goes 0 for July. Then find out we've extended the GM who seems to be trying to put the Cubs back to the lovable loser days. Trying to take that back from the Bulls.

Big game. Chicago is at home. It is snowing. The home club is bigger than the visitors and faster. The hard hitting. The crashing at the sidelines for a tackle. Short yardage. Make a run around end. Driven backwards or fall forward. The line to gain. Coaches frantic how to move the ball. Full back lead the ball carrier. Defender fill the gap and stop forward movement. As the clock countdown. No footing in the sludge and snow as the temperature drop. The passes are overthrown. Or to the wrong uniform.

Again with the snow flurries. Dirty uniforms. He’d caught everything thrown in his direction but cannot break away from the tackle. The shouting of the crowd. The bands. The rival back and forth between the two towns. So is chatter in the media. Always snowing and cold. Between the lines and the best minds cannot crack the goal. The season culminate in Chicago. Throw the records out but the bottom line.

It get darker long as this go on. The heralded arm of their slingers. He run up and out and stretch out for the ball to end it as he dreamed it. They call it “the game.” My Jersey in a trophy case. Among the greatest that did it. It was me just past my fingertips. Slow motion, once again. Shake hands frozen at the end. Wrapped in bandages. The better one this game.

In a room full of reporters and questions pointed at the man behind the microphone. Without a cap but the rest of the uniform. The white baseball jersey with blue writing saying “Sharks.” He is excited to talk about the game just finished against the Eagles. It is the third of the three game series. The final score: Sharks 10 and Eagles:0. The sharks scored in every inning except in the first inning. Their biggest inning four runs in the fourth inning. Twenty one hits in six innings. The eagles no runs three hits and one error.

Royce had four hits out of five at bats. Tristan 3 hits out of five at bats. Clark three out of four at bats. Hertzler four out of four. Royce, Jett and Hayes a homerun a piece. It means we’re sixteen wins and sixteen more games to go. Ranked number one of eight. If we’re in that position at the end of the season it’s straight to the championship round.

“I’m impressed with the way we’re playing going into the All-Star Break. The next sixteen games are going to be even harder as everyone will be making a push for the playoffs.”

“Last year you lost in the playoffs as manager of these very same Eagles and were fired even though you won a championship the season before. Does that weigh on your mind and did it have anything to do with the output of today’s game?”

"Every day I go out to win every game. I don’t bide tied games or like to lose. Coming here and the way things have played out so far I’m sure I’m going to have all the time to win or lose.” The man is 47 years old. Years of baseball knowledge more managing than playing. He exude a confidence and a wisdom with a height. An intimacy with the microphone. It is the fielding and pitching that keep them in the game and a fine minor league. Expect that they will win for a very long time.

“Man it makes me so happy just knowing my career isn’t going down the drain.” Former Montrose Club star Smith on his time with the Farragut City. More beneficial than his time in Montrose. In the National Soccer/Football League. If Montrose had given him the money he wanted to be the highest paid Striker in the league. Truly after his departure the Montrose Club fell apart with no one near his talent to match. There have been a number of notable departures from Montrose acquired by draft or trade. And the thousand yard stare as losses have piled up since then. Constant change in front office administration. And constant turnover of the roster. Since the end of ----‘s time as Manager of the Montrose Club is a mess. Up and down through the seventies. However he was the last Manager to get them to the League Championship in 1980. Even then it was a near disaster. Plenty of talent and ego. It’s hard to watch one of your star players walk or traded when it took genius to get him there out of University. And soon after the National Team. It is hard enough to keep stars in country. Watching them dominate when they go to other Caribbean clubs. The last few years the University at Yves has been the best place to find strikers. Like Floyd who won a league championship with Belle Plaine. Before moving onto Sao Paulo. His departure many say caused an early departure for Montrose City in the Caribbean Championships in ’91 and then he was gone. Smith said it was bittersweet leaving Montrose but seeing the level of talent on the Farragut Club he couldn’t help himself but be excited. He sees a league championship and a chance to go deep into the Caribbean tournament, if not win it. Montrose has been known for greats at all positions and there are a few who wouldn’t share Smiths sentiment including the recent deceased Butler who was a great in his own time. And a moment of silence before the latest unlikely victory over Providence City whose Manager got his back up over his clubs performance on the pitch in Prime time. The first win of the season after a number of lost matches.

Bring back David Ross. It's never good to do something just to do something. With Ross we might struggle but wouldn't look so bad doing it. The grim reaper come to the Cubs and have sucked the life out of them. Close to making the playoffs in '23 we could only improve with Bellinger back in the fold. Counsell accomplished nothing in Milwaukee and he's brought the failures to to Chicago. There is no hope or life around this team. Injuries have played a role but that's everyone's problem in sports. The nature of sports but when the team you leave gets better without you there's always the Cubs to save your ass.

So what were we supposed to expect from Craig Counsell? David Ross a world series winner with the Cubs in 2016 and manager after Joe Maddon I say we would be in a better position right now. Counsell signing the highest contract for a manager gives me the vibes of what he was in Milwaukee, he's alright. There is no way Ross would have let then bullpen no matter how bad it is give up nine runs to lose a game 9-8 when you're up 8-0. While I was surprised how well we did against the Dodgers there's always trouble waiting when we go out west to face them. They're even having trouble with the Padres the team the Cubs gave up the runs to, in a series we should have won. And of course Milwaukee is still ahead of us. I was never really overwhelmed about the signing. Truly Counsell looks weird in a Cub uniform. But mark my words and I don't like to be the wet blanket if the Cubs fall short of the playoffs or get knocked out early like the Ross years we're going to be wondering what was the point.

It was going to happen and it happened. I am furious. The Bears giving the reins at QB to a kid with a bunch of ballers and vets around him he better have his shit together otherwise we'll be moving on from him. A kid who it has been said isn't even the best athlete in the draft somehow ends up at #1. The Bears have to draft him. And Just Fields handled it like he should thanking Chicago for the opportunity. If I was him with a Wikipedia page I would leave that period of my life blank. Chicago gave him nothing but a check. They didn't know how to handle him and he will go on to have a great career because he is the ultimate professional with all the talent in the world. Stupid me I figured there would be some way to hold onto both players but as they say it is a business. When this team starts to struggle and all the fantastic moves made in free agency and the draft is going to be worthless if this kid cannot beat Green Bay.

Word in Chicago: Cody Bellinger is coming back on a 3 year deal with incentives in the contract that if he wants to leave he can walk away at anytime in the three years. I'm sorry anything good he has to say about the City of Chicago and wanting to be here to me is hollow otherwise you would have signed a long time ago before spring training games had started. You're going to have to prove you want to be here in Chicago besides any sort of payday. Most people want to win and show what they can do over a period of time. At their peak. I don't understand how after one good year and two bad ones before that you could say you deserve a max contract. And if the Cubs had made the playoffs and lost in the first game for us in Chicago we can say he got us further than the year or years before and deserve a large contract but not the amount of years or money he was looking for. But Cody is back and let's see if he's even worth the contract the Cubs just gave him.

The Bears: Go ahead and do what you're going to do anyways: draft a quarterback namely Caleb Williams and get rid of Justin Fields. Let's see if this is going to go down the path that other regimes have gone. How many quarterbacks we can ruin. We ruined Justin Fields and are looking to get rid of him after firing nearly your entire offensive staff. To do what exactly? Have Justin or whoever swallow a new play book and see where that gets us with the bare minimum of talent around him. No quality running back. One top notch receiver and and a pretty good tight end. The offensive line is trash. The defense is coming along but we don't know if the head coach is going to be around next year so if the Bears do draft  Caleb Williams he's going to be in the same position as Justin Fields. I honestly believe Caleb Williams is not the best quarterback in the draft and I don't want to be here again looking for another quarterback like the Carolina Panthers.

Another thing that bothers me is the front office not just being straight up with Fields the last two years whether or he was going to be replaced. I say let the man know right away what the reality is which is he could be traded no matter how much he wants to be in Chicago. I do not believe Caleb Williams is the best qb in the draft which is why I say keep Fields. Last year I said no matter what they do with the qb position they're going to have to put people around him in order to succeed. And they did not do that last year and here we are again with the same conundrum. Bears gm's and coaches should never unpack their suitcases because the Bears will not hesitate to ride you out on the rails. I say Ran Poles and Eberflus is tied to each other at this point because of the situation being the same as last year and it was not Poles who put the Bears in a position to win. It was Eberflus who took over the defense after his coordinator suddenly resigned. Though Poles didn't hire Eberflus he's tied with him as far as success. If you ask me if anyone should go it would be Poles because he flat out doesn't know what he's doing. I've said every regime wants their own players so I say go ahead and draft Caleb Williams. Do what you think is best but the clock is ticking.

Tuesday, February 6, 2024

It has been said that no one believes in you more than you especially when you're asking for a $200 million contract for multiple years. Cody Bellinger had a red hot start to the season and when he was injured the Cubs struggled. But that's one year with the Cubs when the previous seasons he had bad numbers and blamed it on injuries. If I was him I would have signed a two year contract because as you see no one is hot to sign him. He had plenty of interest after the 2023 season that quickly waned as free agency has gone on. Everyone is basically yelling at the Cubs "sign him already!" But the Cubs are
lukewarm on doing that because he had one good year. He really needs to bring his numbers down big time but Scott Boras won't let that happen because they say he can get the big contracts for his players as an agent. Not this player. He started during the season saying the Cubs would be fools not to re-sign Bellinger. But let's be realistic one season does not a legend make. I've heard he wants a contract as long as 8 years. I'm not sure there were a lot of teams looking to sign him when the Cubs snatched him up. And you see the same with pitchers and catchers reporting this month. He'd be better off signing with the Cubs for another two seasons and then signing a big contract. The only problem is he's too close to thirty years old. No one wants to sign someone for 8 years at 28.

Let the Chicago Bears go about their business which might mean drafting a quarterback with the number one pick. Are we sure Caleb Williams is the right pick? His numbers regressed a year after he won the Heisman trophy but as they say he beat the teams he was supposed to but not the teams that were tops in the Pac 12 conference in 2023. Was that his fault? I don't know I never saw him play but I get the feeling that they figured him out from one season to the other. The teams he dominated in '22 he struggled against in '23. Including losing to Tulane in 2022. Then going 1-5 in the last six games of '23. Of course he didn't play in the bowl game this season expecting to be a high draft pick. Saying at one point in the season if he wasn't drafted by certain teams he would stay in college where he'd make more money. Now he's saying he is not anti-Bears. One thing that is consistent is his ability to score. At least in 2022. I don't know how many teams have given up the number one pick twice in two years. I suggested the Bears keep Justin Fields to see what he can really do with a quality coaching crew around him but the coordinators the Bears hired are coming in with the idea they will be working with Williams. It looks like the writing's on the walls for Fields. If you're a Chicago fan of any sport we've seen too often players go to other teams and do well. Chicago is a ruiner (I'm sure that isn't a real word) of stars so it might have been a good thing we didn't draft Pat Mahomes. It is good to see him at his best in multiple Super Bowls and not being run out of Chicago. I don't want to see Fields go but this has been a year of bad quarterback play. But the Carolina Panthers who took our number 1 pick last year took a quarterback and it was a disaster for them. Who is to say the Bears won't have the same experience? Most QB's who are successful sat for a year or two getting some tutelage from a veteran. I believe that veteran should be Justin Fields.

The Bears have made some quick moves within a week of the end of the season, on the offensive side of the ball. The defense started out as trash but with some huge improvements in personnel and Eberflus taking the reins of the defense they greatly improved to the point they were in the running for the playoffs. There isn't so much to improve on that side of the ball except depth. There is still a passionate discussion about whether to keep Justin Fields. For a franchise that hasn't had a "Franchise Quarterback," since Sid Luckman. I'd watch the Bears offense and it looked so clumsy. Nothing like an NFL offense at all. People wanted to blame Fields as he started to look un-interested and wanting out of Chicago where he was the most sacked qb in the league which is a wonder why they didn't get rid of the offensive line coach. His looks were probably because his handlers didn't know how to deal with him. Luke Getsy, the offensive coordinator is who I blame for ruining fields if he continues to struggle. They fired the quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach, running backs coach (which is a head scratcher because the running game was one of the bright spots on offense), and the tight ends coach. It is a wonder if these guys were from the previous regime. I like the way the Bears are doing things with the coaches and front office. Desist with this loyalty where if the head coach is fired so is everybody else. A chance to get the right guy in the right place not tie him to the Head Coach. This is showing the Bears are serious about being contenders for a while. Everyone is expendable including Ryan Poles a former practice squad member with the Bears. I've not been a big fan of a man who never smiles. Though the last gm Ryan Pace always had a smile on his face but some would say quarterbacks were not his forte if Fields whom he drafted does not get better. I'll hold my full opinion on Ryan Poles depending on what he does in this draft. I'll say what I said last year. If Justin Fields is your quarterback then let it be known and not have him waiting until draft night to find out he's being replaced.

Monday, January 8, 2024

Everyone is so hot to get Justin Fields out of Chicago. Considering what other teams and many teams including Chicago had to use backup quarterbacks. Minnesota Vikings had to use at least four since Kirk Cousins went down. Quarterback play this season has been terrible especially among the teams who drafted quarterbacks in 2023. I am of a mind that if you draft a quarterback you should sit him to let him know the speed of the NFL. If the Bears do draft a qb with the first pick it would be a bad idea if they think any quarterback they draft will be ready to play on day one which is why the play at that position was so bad unless you're Lamar Jackson.

The Bears have two picks in the first round and most mock drafts I've seen says the Bears will draft a qb with the first pick they traded away last year to Carolina who drafted a qb and now it's coming back to the Bears. If they do draft a qb they should keep Fields to prepare the kid for the league.

I remember when the Bears Drafted Mitch Trubisky in 2017 they had the plan to sit him to let him learn the position. Only they signed Mike Glennon who was complete trash so Trubisky had to learn sooner than planned and quarterback is one of the hardest positions to learn and the easiest to destroy a career if you don't have the right coaches. 2017 was a great quarterback class which included Patrick Mahomes. Everytime I see him play it makes me mad because the Bears could have had him. Someone told me that if they did draft Mahomes they would have ruined him. We've already seen David Montgomery walk to a division rival and is doing well and Roshaun Smith was Traded to Baltimore where they're looking like a Super Bowl team. Can it be said that Chicago is a place where football careers come to die with all of the hall of famers we've had? So what is the point of drafting another quarterback when to me it is clear that the coaches we have now have no idea how to coach up a talent like Fields. So drafting a quarterback no.1 and letting fields walk is not a good idea. I say trade out of the first round altogether because the Bears don't draft again until number 9 or 10. I say trade the pick and get a package of players and picks and find your studs in the later rounds where you can find the diamond in the rough. Stop relying on the draft and losing so we can get a high draft pick who isn't going to accomplish much but find his way out of Chicago. And then we're back where we started.

Tuesday, January 2, 2024

I remember years ago on New Years day the plan was to turn on football and not move off the couch unless necessary. Those days there were no playoff games and bowl games had were based on conference v.s conference matchups by contract or the hottest teams of the day because they would draw the biggest crowd or the most eyes if you were not able to go to the game. Even then there was talk in those days the way you played in the bowl game affected your draft status. Even then there was talk of paying players because of the amount of money the school made off football and bowl games. For close to thirty years the NCAA has tried to put the two best teams to decide which is the Champion. And they have done, as they say the road hell are paved with good intention. With the transfer portal because players should be able to switch schools like coaches and NIL deals where players are getting paid for their talents and the movement of the conferences towards the Midwest and southeast, college football isn't going to look anything like it did in the nineties and the early two thousands.

But what is grinding my gears right now is the players opting out because people are in their ears on and off social media that they are going to be first round picks and make crazy money. Being a Bears fan I've heard people talk about getting rid of Justin Fields which is ridiculous looking at all the backup quarterbacks that have been used this year like 4 in Minnesota. Justin Fields is not perfect but neither is the talent around him. From the offensive line to the backs and receivers. They may get a player here or there but it is clear the Bears are not building around Justin Fields to put the Bears on the level of other competitive teams. I digress.

What if you paid your money for tickets and airfare to travel to see your favorite team in a bowl game only to find out your favorite/best player has decided not to play.

Georgia demolished No. 5 Florida State 63-3 in what was the largest margin of victory in bowl history, topping the Bulldogs' 58-point win over TCU in last season's national championship game. But the lopsided score was due, in part at least, to a host of opt-outs and injuries for the Seminoles.

According to Georgia's Head Coach Kirby Smart, "People need to see what happened tonight, and they need to fix this," Smart said, lamenting the flood of opt-outs and portal entries on teams playing in non-playoff bowl games. "It needs to be fixed. It's very unfortunate that they have a good football team and a good football program and they're in the position they're in."

The Seminoles played without their top two quarterbacks, top two running backs, top two receivers, starting tight end, three starting defensive linemen, two of three starting linebackers and three starting defensive backs. They were down 29 scholarship players in all.

Florida State coach Mike Norvell strongly intimated that the College Football Playoff committee's decision to leave a 13-0 Seminoles team out of the playoff in favor of two one-loss teams -- Texas and Alabama -- motivated a significant number of his team's opt-outs.

As they say don't hate the player hate the game. Love of football will never wane but love of college football the way they're heading you might as well turn it into NFL light or a version of the G-League. I remember when it was a big thing to note how many college athletes especially football and basketball players were graduating. They touted the academics of the players and awarded them for their talents off the field. Now it isn't spoken of and loyalty has gone out the door as players who have had stellar years are transferring possibly to put themselves into a position to get drafted.

According to ESPN: Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter, who helped the Flames to their first league title and New Year's Six bowl appearance, is set to enter the transfer portal, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

Salter, the Conference USA MVP, informed the coaching staff of his intent, the source said.

Salter had 2,876 passing yards with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions this season, completing 61% of his passes. He also ran for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns, ranking 36th nationally and third among quarterbacks behind Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels of LSU and Boston College's Thomas Castellanos.

Enough said.

Six years of bad baseball in Anaheim and when I say bad baseball I'm Talking about the players around Shohei Otani. A player of his talent and arguably one of the best players beside him in Mike Trout and neither of them in 6 years saw the playoffs. Now Otani is signed with the Dodgers. Good for him. But I hope he's ready for the let downs when they win 100 games and don't get to the Worlds Series or lose the series. Can you imagine a man who can pitch a full game and turn around and hit the game winning homerun?

With the understanding he wanted to play in the American League with the DH and now the entire league has the DH.

What bothers me is sports can be like political polling. Always some rumor. Things can go one way or the other. At one time I'd seen Otani coming to the Cubs because they already have another Asian player. He would fit right in. And last week some fool report he was going to Toronto. That made no sense to me because he wanted to stay on the west coast.

The Cubs sign Craig Counsell and then what? Does that mean the division is in our laps automatically? There may have been a reason Milwaukee let go of Counsell. Sure he could win some division Championships. Make the post season and be one of the first teams out. As Harry Caray would say, "Holy Cow." the Cubs have so many holes to fill and so far none of the other division teams are making a splash so the Cubs might have a chance.

This is the same case in all sports  whichever city you're in: what is my team going to do to get better? You know they have holes to fill but you watch the good free agents come off the board or you sign a guy for a year and he has a career year but walks in the off season (Cody Bellinger). Or an annoying habit baseball has which is to trade players for a guy who is going to walk at the end of the season. G©

“Man it makes me so happy just knowing my career isn’t going down the drain.” Former Bear linebacker Roquan Smith on his time in Baltimore more beneficial than his time in Chicago and if Chicago had given him the money he wanted to be the highest paid linebacker in the league. Truly after his departure the Bears defense fell apart. Since 2018 there have been a number of notable departures from the Bears acquired by draft or trade. And the thousand yard stare and the losses pile up. With constant change in front office administration and a need to turn over the roster. Since the end of the Lovie Smith/ Brian Urlacher time in Chicago the Bears are a hot mess. Up and down since the 90’s. However Lovie Smith was the last coach to get the Bears to the Super Bowl in ‘06/’07. Even then it was a cluster fuck particular at quarter back which is clear when you make it to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman under center. Maybe not the reason they lost the Super Bowl but reasons why they didn’t win. Football is a physical sport. Probably the most physical of all American sports. How much can a body take in constant losing without guaranteed contracts as in other sports? Regardless of sport it’s hard to watch one of your star players walk or get traded particular when there’s genius in acquiring that talent. The last few years if you want a linebacker the best place to go is the University of Georgia. Smith is the second Georgia linebacker in the last few years after Leonard Floyd who ends up winning a Super Bowl with the Rams in ’21. It’s like saying “get out while you can.”  Even if you don’t play linebacker, Ahem, Justin Fields. Really baseball and basketball are sports where an athlete is willing to go through a rebuild. The NFL you want to get past your rookie contract and sign a big contract with a team on the verge of winning and they’re willing to pay. Sports being a business so you’re not playing for one team in a league with 32 sets of eyes. Each week is an audition. The last thing you want is to feel is your career is going down the drain. Which if considered is a rough thing to say about any team in any sport. Smith did say, “it was bittersweet to be traded.” He knows the regard for the position of linebacker in Chicago. Certainly he would have been a legend here. But how many coaches would he have to suffer before he’d reach the success he’s had in Baltimore? There is no burying the lead in this one. But Brian Urlacher was in Chicago for 13 years and might have a problem with that statement. And the recently passed Dick Butkus. With that in mind we have been hurt by linebackers leaving. Does anyone remember Wilber Marshall?

The Cubs let go of David Ross after four tough seasons at the helm of the Cubs including seeing the club through covid. There is a lot of love on the North Side for "Rossy" because he was a pivotal part of the 2016 World Series winner Cubs. Including hitting a homerun in game seven of the World Series against the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. It can be said that under him the Cubs got rid of their core of Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Wilson Contreras and Javier Baez. They weren't winning and the only one who ended up on a winning team was Rizzo with the Yankees. Can we say that is "Rossy's" fault? I don't know but one trend I did see under him was the team would start off looking like they're going to compete in a bad division where the Cubs ended up in second place and still end up missing the playoffs.

Too many times I've seen Chicago players leave Chicago and end up on a team from the division. It is funny to see a division rival come here. I didn't think it would be Craig Counsell who I remember from his playing days in Milwaukee. And it took him several years for the Brew Crew to become relevant under him. And then he dominated a bad division except the years the Cardinals made things interesting while the Brewers slapped the Cubs around.

I do think David Ross has a right to be angry. He's finally given players to win with and a minor league system that is ranked in the top 5 in baseball. And he has one season with this on his side. Unfortunately after having a three game lead for the second wild card they choked. This has to be the reason they chose to remove him. Not to say he wouldn't have dominated going forward but the Cubs felt they had to take this chance on Counsell. I must say that Counsell has not really fared any better then Ross other than having the players to make the playoffs.

Since joining the division the Brewers have been a thorn in the Cub's side. I can remember '07 when the Brewers started the season with a nine game lead. These were the Ryan Braun days. The cheater Ryan Braun. But they languished long enough for the Cubs to come back and win the division. This is the way it went for several years until they finally became like the Packers owning the Bears.

Milwaukee's success has been recent and never sniffing the World Series. It seems like we're trading one "Rossy" for another. Perhaps Ross didn't handle the pitchers well it has been said. And maybe a few other mistakes but sports is all about the bottom line and when you have a chance to make the playoffs after management gave you more than they have in the past you have to take advantage. That is my opinion. There is no fact in that as I don't know what makes Counsell better than Ross.

Hell Yes there is a quarterback controversy at Halas Hall. But first congratulations to Tyson Bagent and the Chicago Bears for winning a big game of backups. Against a former Bear Quarterback who hasn’t won a game since he left the Bears. It’s a great story like the kid who hits a grand slam his first major league at bat.

Bagent played well in a way that showed the coaching staff went into this game with a game plan to win this game. There is a Quarterback controversy at Halas Hall because Bagent was hardly touch during that game. The offensive line was nearly perfect. The defense played well. It was a complete team win. Bagent wasn’t put in there to manage the game and try not to make mistakes like they do most rookie or backup quarterbacks who don’t get a lot of reps during the week. They opened the play book and let it loose. If they had the same game plan for Justin Fields he’d have won more than 6 games in his career. Admittedly if I was Justin Fields I would be furious. None of his games seemed so smooth. For once they looked like and actual NFL team.

The Bears would’ve won that game no matter who was at quarterback. Not to  say that Bagent doesn’t have any talent but it was the best game for him to make his debut. If Jimmy Garropolo had played the game might have either been closer or the Bears might have lost.

I’m not one to speak on a mans job but I think the Bears should move on from their current coaching situation or some of the coaches on the offensive side of the ball. The Bears have a franchise quarterback where other teams have drafted more than one. Look at the Vikings. They’re holding tight to a former back up because they realize there isn’t much out there and Colin Kaepernickis persona non grata  whether or not he’s willing to accept it. I suggest to save Justin Fields career he request  a trade to the Jets or New England both teams which recently drafted quarterbacks.

I said Deion Sanders should not rely on rivalries to drive his team. I was wrong and right. I was wrong because criticizing him and the Property values of Boulder, Colorado goes up. Driven by disrespect catch you on the wrong side of the score board. I was right because the teams that learn not to kick dirt on the midfield logo. They could have set themselves up on a chance at the conference or division championship. And a step closer to bowl eligible. Then we'd really get to see how Colorado fans travel.

This is year one and after a five year contract he can pick where he wants to go and no one will turn him down. Remember Deion keeps receipts. Again with the chip on the shoulder gets you to penalties at pivotal points in the game. When you're no longer underdogs do what you do best. When his boys are gone from Colorado, hopefully in the NFL, and he has roster he has to further turn over be prepared for the moments when they are  a mainstay in the top 25.

Deion Sanders says he would never coach in the NFL because he cannot deal with players getting paid big money before they play a game. Yet his son, Quarterback Shedeur Sanders got a 10 million NIL deal before he took the field against TCU. I have always been for paying players beyond their educational costs and I remember when boosters would pay players under the table but nowhere near what they're getting now. I understand at football schools it is king. And players are putting their bodies on the line like Travis Hunter, two way player for the "Buffs who got injured against Colorado State. In my opinion the 'Buffs haven't seen the hardest part of their schedule yet and Sanders is being admonished by The G.O.A.T. Tom Brady for buying a Rolls Royce when he should be in the video room trying to get better. Sanders response was, "I saw you have one so I bought one."

What  bothers me is a student athlete making that kind of money while those who cannot throw a ball or anything to do with a ball struggle to pay their tuition and student loans while these athletes walk out of school whether they have a future in sports with no debt. Ten Million is ridiculous. I've also noticed that no one knows what his major is or if he's even going to class. I get that schools make different rules for athletes and it might not be the school who is paying this money. Sanders has definitely put up some great numbers and probably has a future in the NFL but as I said he hasn't played the hardest part of the 'Buffs schedule yet. Regardless how the rest of his time in Colorado goes he's going to be able to say what very few students can say while the Biden Administration is trying to give aid to those who have large educational debt Shedeur Sanders will drive away in style and owe nothing for his "education."

Do What You Do

I would warn Deion Sanders not to let the chip on his shoulder get to be too big. You have maybe 11, 12, games in a season are you going to find something in every one of those games to piss you off? No one should be surprised that The Buffaloes are winning. While I never figured Sanders for a x's and o's man he certainly got it down with over 900 hundred yards passing in two games. Deion Sanders is not going to let anyone out work him no matter who he pisses off along the way. He is an Icon and a hall of fame athlete who really does not need to be doing any of this. But he was asking if people believe in his program after one win. The same amount the last coach won. Then he had to beat Nebraska who is absolutely terrible and heartbreaking from what they were in the eighties and nineties. Now the real coaching begins. The difference between Jackson State and Colorado is he needs to win just 6 games to be bowl eligible.
I said that when he left Jackson State every coach in the Pac 12 (soon to be defunct) got a tape of all his games. The one thing they didn't see on that his tapes is his ability to inspire and compete. Take a difficult situation and turn it around. Forget the plays and the schemes, there isn't a coach in college football right now that is doing what Deion is doing. Please Deion take that chip off your shoulders you have/had nothing to prove from day one. Let the pundits trip over their tongue in judgement of you but you knew something they didn't know whether they played college football or even professional football no coach in history ever prepared their team to take the field better than Coach Prime and it shows. I've heard players and coaches alike say we had a great week of practice and they still got blown off the field. Personally I would let my kids graduate and go back to coaching high school football, remembering I have nothing to prove. The Colorado Buffaloes will not get anywhere near the national Championship and they don't need to. But Sports writers have memories like elephants and they will remember how great Deion is as a coach but as well the feathers he will ruffle especially if he starts calling out teams that do not show up for the Colorado pro day. I am not saying turn down the passion but turn down the side show and do what you do.
